Description
Gray Ghost / Grey Ghost
The Gray Ghost fly pattern or Grey Ghost fly pattern is a streamer whose primary function is to imitate smelt.
The fly is credited to commercial fly tyer, Carrie G. Stevens of Madison, Maine who came up with the design in 1924. She was the wife of Maine fishing guide, Wallace Stevens. She did tie many other flies knows as the Rangeley style most of which have the jungle cheeks in common.
Since Jungle Cock has since become an endangered and prohibited material, imitation jungle cock has become a replacement for the original.
The fly’s wing gives it a swimming action when trolling or using the dead drift technique.
Good for many types of the trout species.
Usually available in hook sizes: 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14
