Flying Ant
The Flying Ant fly pattern is one of the favorite Ant patterns. Ants are usually available to fish on ice free waters in the Andirondak, Appalachian, Cascades, Catskills, Rockies and many other mountainous regions. This Ant is a very realistic ant fly, as it comes in traditional black, brown or red color.
Its floating characteristics, makes the ant sit half-submerged in the water, making it a perfect ant pattern for trout fishing. One should carry a selection of flying ants in various colors sizes in their fly box at the first sign of new leaves on trees and bushes. The tender leaves tend to attract aphids which leave the sweet droppings that ants love.
Great for Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout etc.
