The Elk Hair Caddis pattern is a very popular dry fly commonly used for trout fishing. The fly was created by Pennsylvania fly tyer Al Troth in 1957. He is considered a pioneer in the sport of fly fishing for this invention.
It imitates adult Caddisfly and Stonefly. The Elk hair on the wings makes this fly float extremely well in fast moving water.
