Description
Conehead Marabou Muddler / CH Marabou Muddler
The Conehead Marabou Muddler fly pattern is a variation of the classic Muddler Minnow pattern and is designed to imitate a variety of prey such as small fish, crayfish, and even grasshoppers. It was originated by Don Gapen of Anoka, Minnesota in the late 1930’s.
The Cone-head Marabou Muddler is one of the most successful searching patterns under tough conditions. The fly features a cone-shaped head which adds weight to the front of the fly and helps the fly sink fast in heavy water while the marabou attached to it provides spectacular movement.
The Conehead Marabou Muddler is a versatile fly that can be fished in a variety of ways. It can be stripped quickly to imitate a fleeing baitfish, or it can be twitched and skittered across the surface to imitate a struggling insect.
It is particularly effective when fished in fast-moving water or in streams and rivers with rocky bottoms. The fly comes inĀ a variety of colors.
